Full Steam Forward

Full STEAM Forward provides free, after-school Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) programming to young girls of color from underserved communities. They are committed to creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive STEM workforce. At the heart of Full Steam Forward's mission is their belief that the underrepresentation of women of color in STEM begins with a lack of access to after-school science enrichment programs.

Girls Who Invest is a woman-founded, women-led economic empowerment organization, with a mission to positively disrupt the investment management industry. Their vision is to have 30% of the world’s investable capital managed by women and gender nonbinary individuals by 2030.

The Legally BLK Fund is dedicated to supporting aspiring Black women attorneys, by providing Black women with the tools, knowledge and confidence to achieve their legal aspirations. The EmpowerHER Pre-Law Institute is a comprehensive and empowering program designed to support young women of color in New York City who aspire to become future attorneys and learn more about the legal profession.

Women’s Entrepreneurship

ASCENDUS

Ascendus is a nonprofit community development financial institution with a mission to empower low-to moderate-income business owners with access to capital and financial education. Ascendus’ New York City Small Business Lending and Financial Education for Women Program will empower women entrepreneurs with the knowledge and means to grow their personal financial health, support their families, and create employment opportunities for other women in New York City.

Custom Collaborative

Custom Collaborative trains, mentors, and advocates for and with no/low-income and immigrant women to build the skills necessary to achieve economic success in the sustainable fashion industry and broader society. Their Training Institute, Business Incubator, and Worker-Owned Cooperative Development programs equip women with tangible skills, from garment design and production to business management, fostering their expertise and confidence to excel in various fields, especially within the fashion industry.

Hot Bread Kitchen’s mission is to create economic opportunity for women and gender-expansive people, immigrants, and people of color through job skills training, food entrepreneurship programs, and an ecosystem of support in New York City. Funding will support HBK Incubates, a food entrepreneurship program that supports the leadership development of women of color in New York City by advancing their small businesses.

COALITION AGAINST TRAFFICKING OF WOMEN

The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women is one of the oldest international organizations working to end the trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and girls. They emphatically believe that every woman and girl has a fundamental right to live a life free from discrimination, sexual exploitation, and violence. Through an approach rooted in women’s rights and human rights principles, they advocate for strong laws and policies, raise public awareness and support survivor leadership.

Girls’ Leadership

Bella Abzug Leadership Institute

Bella Abzug Leadership Institute’s mission is to inspire young women to become effective, dynamic and visionary 21st century leaders as well as active and creative participants in civic, political, corporate and community life. BALI works with high-achieving, low-income and under-served female identifying gender expansive youth, 13-21 years old, who reside and or go to schools throughout New York City and the Tri-State area. BALI provides skills-based leadership and policy and public forum debate training, which would be otherwise unavailable to students.

The mission and purpose of Felicia’s Promise is to assist girls of color from underrepresented communities to develop marketable skills, attain higher education, learn about career opportunities, and become financially self-reliant. Seeds of Fortune is the largest, non-profit EdTech platform dedicated to matching young women of color to education, finance and career opportunities to support them on their first steps toward economic security. Their three impact areas of focus are access to an affordable college education and economic information, scalable and accessible career opportunities, as well as access to social capital that leads to closing the gender and racial wealth and education gap.

South Asian Youth Action works toward educational equity by providing opportunities and resources to underserved New York City youth, ensuring they are empowered academically, emotionally, and socially to become engaged community members. The Young Women’s Leadership Program, is a gender-based, youth leadership program designed to provide a culturally-affirming third space for female-identifying and gender expansive youth from underserved communities in Queens.

Student Leadership Network

The Student Leadership Network was founded in 1996 when The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem opened. At the time, it was the first public all-girls school to open in the United States in 30 years. Since their establishment, the Young Women's Leadership Schools (TYWLS) have stood at the forefront of advancing girls' education in New York City. The success of the New York City TYWLS have since inspired dozens of single-gender Young Women’s Leadership Network schools to open nationwide.
