NEW YORKERS UNITED FOR CHILDCARE

We are deeply grateful to Amplify Her Foundation for this generous grant and partnership. With their support, New Yorkers United for Child Care will continue to build parent power and fight for a universal child care system that ensures every family can thrive. Amplify Her’s investment recognizes that child care is not just a service, but the foundation of women’s economic security, opportunity, and leadership. Together, we can make New York City a place where care is valued, affordable, and accessible for all.

MISSION

New Yorkers United for Child Care is a new organization made up of parents and would-be parents in New York City who are getting organized to build the constituent power needed to win free universal child care for all. Together, they are harnessing the power of communities to win the transformational change New Yorkers deserve and build a fairer, more livable city for families to call home.

GRANT PURPOSE & IMPACT

Amplify Her Foundation funding will support a critical phase of growth for New Yorkers United for Child Care. Funds will allow the organization to expand its grassroots base to 12,000 members by mid-2026, demonstrating to elected officials that New Yorkers demand bold investment in child care. This includes hiring new organizers in Washington Heights and the Bronx, areas with high need and strong parent engagement potential, as well as adding a Statewide Coalition Manager to mobilize support in Albany, where long-term funding for universal programs must be secured.

The impact of this grant will be felt on multiple levels: strengthening New Yorkers United for Childcare’s organizing infrastructure, equipping parents, predominantly mothers, with leadership skills, and shifting the public conversation about child care from stigma to solidarity. With coordinated rallies, petitions, press engagement, and direct advocacy meetings, NYUC is ensuring that parent voices shape decisions about the city’s and state’s child care systems. Ultimately, this work moves New York closer to a future where all families can rely on accessible, equitable, and publicly funded care.
