“With Amplify Her Foundation’s support, we will deepen our commitment to the girls of New York by expanding pathways for the next generation of critical thinkers and scientists. Together, we will create meaningful opportunities for girls to engage in in-depth scientific exploration, build confidence in their abilities, and envision themselves as future leaders in STEM.”

MISSION
BioBus helps K-12 and college students discover, explore, and pursue science. They focus on students excluded from the scientific community due to factors such as race, gender, economic status, and physical access.
GRANT PURPOSE & IMPACT
Amplify Her Foundation funding will support BioBus's Women in STEM Internship program. This paid, year-long research program, part of BioBus's broader Pursue programming, empowers young women from Harlem to pursue careers in science through hands-on laboratory experience, mentorship, and leadership development. Interns design and conduct their own research projects, build professional and communication skills, and serve as near-peer educators by co-facilitating science programs for younger students.
By combining authentic scientific research with opportunities for public presentation, mentorship, and community engagement, BioBus helps participants build confidence, strengthen their science identity, and see themselves as future scientists and leaders. The program has demonstrated exceptional long-term impact, with 95% of BioBus Pursue alumni persisting in STEM through college and into STEM careers.
With Amplify Her Foundation's support, ten young women will participate in more than 1,000 hours of paid laboratory research and leadership development during the academic year, gaining the technical, professional, and personal skills needed to thrive in STEM fields where women, particularly women of color, remain underrepresented.
This investment expands opportunities for young women to access meaningful STEM experiences while strengthening a diverse pipeline of future scientists, researchers, and innovators. By removing barriers to participation and creating pathways to leadership, BioBus is helping ensure that the next generation of women in STEM reflects the diversity and talent of New York City.
